Renowned chefs Carolina Sanchez and Iñaki Murua, the talents behind Michelin-starred Ikaro in La Rioja, Spain, mark their first international project in Miami

Esteemed chefs Carolina Sanchez and Iñaki Murua of the Michelin-starred Ikaro in La Rioja, Spain, are set to open their first international restaurant, MOMENTO by Ikaro, in Miami this summer. Located in Downtown Miami, MOMENTO aims to revolutionize the city's dining scene with a fusion of Spain's culinary traditions and Miami's vibrant culture, offering guests a unique and immersive dining experience.

MOMENTO's menu will feature 14 carefully curated dishes that highlight the flavors of Spain and Latin America, enhanced by the chefs' innovative techniques and artistic presentations. Signature dishes will include Wood-Fired Oven Turbot, Wood-Fired Oven Lamb Shoulder, Amazonian Tiradito, and Ikaro’s renowned Espuma de Abatonca, all prepared using a state-of-the-art wood oven and locally-sourced, seasonal ingredients.

"Our goal with MOMENTO is to create a space where culinary artistry meets immersive storytelling, inviting our guests to indulge in unforgettable experiences that leave a lasting impression."

Designed by CM Design Studio, MOMENTO by Ikaro will feature a blend of Miami's dynamic culture and the timeless elegance of Spanish architecture. The restaurant will include a lush alfresco dining terrace, a modern open kitchen, and an intimate speakeasy cocktail lounge, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. The interior design will incorporate handcrafted elements and unique pieces from Cuenca, as well as a mix of vintage and contemporary art, enhancing the space with a sense of history and authenticity. Natural features like lush greenery and vibrant bougainvillea will add to the serene ambiance, while the color palette of deep azure blues and soft pastels will create depth and intrigue. Open kitchen views will allow guests to connect with the culinary process, and textured plaster walls, ornate mirrors, and plush furnishings will blend vintage elegance with modern comfort.



Chef Iñaki Murua, originally from Álava, developed his culinary skills at the Santo Domingo de La Calzada Hospitality School and at Michelin-starred restaurants such as Martin Berasategui, Azurmendi, and Els Cassals. Chef Carolina Sanchez, from Cuenca, Ecuador, studied at the University of Cuenca and Le Cordon Bleu in Lima, and gained experience at El Celler de Can Roca. She is notably the first Ecuadorian chef to receive a Michelin star. Together, they founded Ikaro Restaurant in Logroño, La Rioja, which earned its first Michelin star in 2018 and additional Repsol Suns in subsequent years. In 2023, they were recognized as gastronomic ambassadors of La Rioja for their contributions to the region's culinary excellence.


MOMENTO by Ikaro will be located at 1306 N Miami Ave, Miami, Florida 33136, and will be open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, 5-11pm. Reservations can be made on their website, with the waitlist currently open.
