Brightline plans fleet expansion and rider loyalty program, sees surge in Orlando-Miami ridership

Brightline plans fleet expansion and rider loyalty program, sees surge in Orlando-Miami ridership

To meet the growing demand, Brightline is expanding its fleet with 30 new coaches over the next year. This includes 20 Smart class cars and 10 premium cars, which are expected to increase capacity on current routes and allow for 100,000 additional trips per month in the short term.

In addition to expanding its fleet, Brightline is also introducing several new programs. These include a loyalty program for riders, launching in the first half of 2025, and a new in-seat ordering program allowing passengers to order food, beverages, and other items directly from their seats.

The company's goal is to reach 400,000 passengers per month in the near term and eventually 650,000 passengers per month, or 8 million per year, by 2026.

While the expansion to Cocoa and the Treasure Coast is still planned, the city of Stuart has withdrawn from an agreement tied to a Treasure Coast station. Brightline also has plans to expand to Tampa using right-of-way along Interstate 4, but experts estimate that this may be at least a decade away.
