Australian developer plans new surf park in Jacksonville’s eTown development

A new world-class destination is coming to Jacksonville's Southside, bringing waves not from the Atlantic Ocean, but from an innovative inland surf park. The Jacksonville Surf Park, a project by global developer Aventuur and a Jacksonville general partnership, will be situated within the eTown master-planned community.

A Passion Project with Local Roots

The Jacksonville general partnership, spearheaded by respected local developers, engineers, and contractors, has dreamt of bringing this amenity to Jacksonville for nearly a decade. Partner Brad Davis, senior vice president of Prosser Prime AE, says, "We've traveled the country experiencing wave pools, longing to bring that experience home." With Aventuur securing the Wavegarden rights for Jacksonville, their dream becomes reality.

Founded in 2019, Aventuur is a leader in integrated surf park developments. Their mission centers on creating authentic surfing destinations that blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment. Their team, with offices in Los Angeles and Perth, combines expertise, investment know-how, and a passion for surfing to deliver exceptional outcomes.

Aventuur's Perth Surf Park in Australia offers a glimpse into what Jacksonville can expect. Opening in early 2027, it boasts a 56-module Wavegarden Cove, offering perfect waves suitable for all skill levels. Additionally, the precinct features a high-performance surf academy, wellness studios, and a variety of hospitality experiences.

Jacksonville Surf Park: Beyond the Waves

The Jacksonville Surf Park promises to be more than just a surfing destination. Plans include a high-performance surf academy, recovery and fitness studios, a skate park, a pump track, a member's lounge, a beach club, quality restaurants and bars, rooftop glamping, a Rip Curl flagship store, and even nature-scaped gardens, lawns, and a kid's playground.

Sustainable Design and Community Focus

The Jacksonville Surf Park is designed with "blue health" principles in mind, aiming to provide spaces for residents and visitors to connect with nature and enjoy the outdoors. It will foster a sense of community by forming youth surf groups, social surfing groups, and activity groups. The park also aligns with eTown's vision of creating a vibrant, sustainable community that encourages wellness and outdoor recreation.

Construction Timeline

While the financial investment structure remains undisclosed, the project aims to commence construction in late 2024, with first waves expected in late 2026 and a public opening in early 2027. This exciting development promises to become a major sporting, tourism, and entertainment destination for Jacksonville.
